Animated Shorts: Corporate values

How can abstract values like Openness, Trust, and Courage be visually represented? This project at swisstopo translates these principles into concise animations, blending geometric forms with relatable human elements.

This project was the culmination of my one-year internship at swisstopo, where the goal was to creatively visualize the core values of the federal office, tailored specifically to our company. The project began with five symbols, each representing a core value: Openness, Respect, Trust, Courage, and Foresight.

I developed short, engaging narratives for each value, transforming these abstract concepts into compelling animations. Alongside my colleague Elia Bürki (responsible for the text animation), we incorporated guiding principles that further articulated the meaning behind each value. I was responsible for the entire animation pipeline, from initial concept development through to post-production and print material such as posters.

One of the biggest challenges was infusing static and geometric forms with meaning. To overcome this, I introduced a human element into the storytelling, such as the use of hands, which allowed viewers to connect emotionally with the animations and see themselves reflected in the stories. This approach brought warmth and relatability to the abstract forms, making the values more accessible and memorable.
